Michael joined Covington Associates LLC in 2004 as part of the firm's expansion into the consumer & industrial sector. He has advised numerous privately held, publicly traded, and family owned businesses, assisting them to evaluate their strategic alternatives, raise capital and execute mergers, acquisitions, sales, divestitures, management buyouts, recapitalizations and fairness opinions.
Background
Michael has personally led the execution of scores of transactions throughout his career. He has lectured frequently and written articles on a number of valuation and M & A related topics. Prior to joining Covington, Michael was a founding officer and Managing Director of Fleet M & A Advisors, a division of Fleet Securities Inc. He was principally responsible for developing and executing M & A and other advisory assignments for FleetBoston Corporation's Industry Banking clients, including those in the Industrial Growth, Transportation & Logistics, Energy, Environmental Services and Middle Market franchise.
Michael joined Fleet Securities from the M & A Group of Robertson Stephens where he focused on companies in the IT Services, e-finance and Industrial Growth sectors. He was previously a Director of Corporate Finance in the Boston office of KPMG where he was responsible for executing M & A and private placement transactions for the firm's clients throughout New England and New York in a number of industries including healthcare services, business services and manufacturing.
Michael received a BA in Economics, cum laude, from Villanova University and his MBA in Finance and Accounting from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
Michael lives in the Boston area with his wife and children. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Italian Home for Children, a residential and day treatment facility for emotionally disturbed children who are often the victims of severe abuse and neglect.
