Covington Associates is located in The Continental Wingate Company Building. The Continental Wingate Company Building was constructed in 1816 and restored in 1984. It is the western terminus of the old Central Wharf, which originally consisted of 54 attached brick bays extending to what is now the site of the New England Aquarium. Once the hub of Boston's China trade, parts of the old wharf were demolished for construction of Atlantic Avenue in 1868 and the Southeast Expressway in the 1950's. Formerly known as the Jenney Building, home of the Jenney Manufacturing Company, the Continental Wingate Company Building is the only remaining Central Wharf bay still to retain the hipped roof and tall chimney typical of the Federal style wharf structures designed by Charles Bulfinch (1786-1841).
